Heike Klüver

I am a Full professor and Chair of Comparative Political Behavior at the Humboldt University of Berlin, Director of the Humboldt Governance Lab and Spokesperson of the DFG Research Training Group DYNAMICS. I previously held positions as Full professor and Chair of Comparative Politics at the University of Hamburg, as Professor of Empirical Political Science at the University of Bamberg, as Junior Professor at the University of Konstanz and as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Nuffield College at the University of Oxford. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Mannheim.
My research examines political behavior in democracies, including work on interest groups, parties and voters, and coalition governments. My current focus is on democratic backsliding and resilience, where I develop and causally test strategies to strengthen democratic institutions. I employ quantitative and experimental methods to generate rigorous, policy-relevant evidence.
